Duke Rosaline
Qedivar has always been a duchy, when it was part of the outer lands. As such, it is ruled by a Duke. When The Wall first went up, it was led by Duke Rosaline's many-times-great granfather, Duke Prescott the Illuminated. He had a daughter, Priscilla the Mighty, who succeeded him, and asserted that she was the Duke, not a Duchess. This was, at the time, a parliamentary trick, allowing her to continue rule as a woman, and is something that has stuck since.
Today the next Duke is selected from amongst the current Duke's children, for those most capable of both bureaucracy and magic. Rosaline easily outshone her brothers in this case, neither of whom had the temperament for rule. Randolph is chair of the Magicrafters Guild and is the human ambassador to the Automatons. Richard, who lacks magical ability, serves as Rosaline's chief guard and head of the Tower Guard the police/military force of Balaur.
Since her coronation and procession, Rosaline has resided in the Regent's Tower, never leaving it, nor setting foot on solid ground. She is currently married to Baron Ambrosia, the baroness of the Wyrmcave Mountains. As such, she has no offspring at the time and the Regency Council has urged her to take a 'mate' and produce an heir or three. She's looking into magical means of conception.
Rosaline is intelligent, lustful (for Ambrosia, anyway), and full of life. Her magic, like most of her line, is showing and bright, and she shows real aptitude for both illusion and shielding magic. The latter study of which has obsessed her line since the rising of The Wall. Qedivar has prospered under her rule, the four corners of the Dutchy balanced, the people's needs met, and few major problems beyond the normal politicking.
Keeping this balance is one of the reasons she has chosen a 'mate' as that person would have to come from one of the four quadrants, and well, she's not entirely fond of men.
