Regent's Tower

Regent's Tower is th highest structure in Qedivar. It is not, technically, the talles structure, which is the Tower of Viir. Some argue that The Wall is the highest structure, but since it wasn't made by Qedivarians, and is arguably outside Qedivar, this distinction falls to the Regent's Tower.

It is a twenty story tower, mostly cylindrical, with a few other, smaller towers jutting out of it. It's easily one hundred feet in diameter at it's largest, dropping down to fifty feet a couple of times in the center. It's most remarkable feature is that it remains floating in the sky a half mile above the city of Balaur.

It contains, at it's peak the Duke's Aerie, which is comprised of the top two floors of the tower. The uppermost layer Duke Rosaline uses as a wizard lab to study the Wall, which is less than twenty feet from the top of the tower itself, and why it was engineered to float. The floor below the laboratory is her personal bedrooms and salon, and below that, the throne room of Qedivar.

Below these are guard barracks, bureaucratic offices, residents for permanent tower employees, kitchens and every other thing needed in a functioning castle. The bottom two floors serve as docking bays for the floating airships that take people up and down to Balaur (along with a mainenance bay to repair them). In an emergency, the airships can be brought up, stored and then the air itself serves as a moat. Defenders can drop rocks or spells on anyone encircling the castle, which has only happened once.

The Duke, once coronated travels on a procession throughout Qedivar, and then returns to the Tower to live out the remainder of their life, never leaving until they abdicate the throne.
